Hugh Charles Nenninger

Hugh Charles Nenninger, 84, of Glen Carbon died on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Nenninger was born August 21, 1917 in Belleville to Louis and Stella (Langlitz) Nenninger. He married Agnes C. Conner and she preceded him in death. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Company C, 38th Battalion, 19th Regiment of the U.S. Army.
He was employed at SIU-Edwardsville as chief engineer of WSIE radio for 20 years, retiring in 1982. He was also employed at SWIC SIU Credit Union, Illinois State Police radio and Pan American navigator. He was a resident of the Du Quoin area during his tenure with the state police. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Collinsville.
He is survived by cousins Laverne Nenninger Anderson, Laverne Riess, Velva Rose (Langlitz) Houston, sister-in-law Grace E. (Conner) Meyer, and many dear extended family members, friends and co-workers.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carlan Nenninger.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2001 at Valhalla Funeral Home in Belleville with Rev. David Stabenfeldt officiating. Visitation was on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment committal services were held at Valhalla Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, Collinsville.
